Season 10 Power Rankings: Week 7 - Deja Vu, 4 in a row by Joey Stiers

Updated: Nov 16, 2022

Welcome to race number 7 of the Cleanracing.net season 10 power rankings. Brownney Racing came out with a vengeance and settled behind Lane Hosler and Joey Stiers for most of the race plotting pit stratey for the all important final stint of the race before Brownney Racing team driver (you know who you are), F**d it up. RTR spent most of the race burning up the tires and plummeting through the field until they flipped the tire saving switch and recovered beautifully with a pair of podiums. League veterans were finally the class of the field in the early going showing the new guys you still have to go through us. Oh yeah Joey Stiers has now won 4 in a row at Iowa. Though he had to work a bit harder today (until he didn't due to a timely caution). Who should be the leader of the week 7 power rankings? Take the poll to let me know. (View Results)

  1. Joey Stiers (Previous: 7)- Alright I'm breaking some rules putting you here, but I hope this will cool you down this season. It's getting ridiculous how you just keep winning. Do I think luck is involved, yes. But also you keep putting himself up front in position which is something we all envy. 4 in a row at Iowa is insane. Only GOATs like Jimmie Johnson at Dover or Kevin Harvick at Phoenix do it in the real world. I know I finally felt like I was running Iowa 'correctly' behind you and would have liked a shot in clean air to stretch a lead, but Evan doesn't like supporting his team sometimes. Hence the one race ban earlier this season. No way you can make it 5 in a row there.

  2. Rhett Tucker (Previous: 4)- I mean that was impressive. You went from fast to slow and out of the picture to running behind the guy that hasn't lost at Iowa in his career all in one race to secure an impressive podium. A lot of guys can't make driving adjustments mid race in NASCAR, but being able to do it midrace in an amateur Monday night league. Dang.

  3. Andrew Megronigle (Previous: 8)- Speaking of which. Also impressive. I know Rhett probably owes you and Nathan Rogge a thank you for the adjustments. Man you guys are getting as annoying as Joey Stiers winning everything. I thought Brownney Racing was finally going to best you guys. We are the good guys everyone cheers for. We basically run the league, the announcers love us, the other drivers love us, our mothers love us. You guys are like Joe Gibbs Racing. You guys make me cheer for Joey.

  4. Josh Lilly (Previous: 3)- Joesh ran great, got freight trained and fell back just outside the top 5. But he ran great. Not even writing more about this race. He doesn't care. We don't care at Brownney Racing. All he cares about is COTA. He's going to lap the field. I promise you that.

  5. Evan Kinney (Previous: 5) - F*** you and your reckless cautions Evan. -Lane, Josh, and Nate.

  6. Mike VanHouten (Previous: 6)- That's the Mike I remember. Solid recovery for a P4. Mike is a legend in this league and he's only won a few races. On our team radio we will talk about a few guys, Mike is one of them. Someone will usually say "Mike is struggling today" always met with a reply "Struggling, he's running 4th??". I expect 4th to be even better at Atlanta. The faster the track, the faster Mike is somehow.

  7. Justin Carey (Previous: 2) - The top 10 streak ended. But it was a tough track. Iowa burns the right front quicker than other track if you don't run it right. For not qualifying, it really wasn't a bad result. It happens. 11th was how I ran my first time here and I've had unparalleled success in this league since... Oh wait no. But I've won a league championship and run decent. I still expect Justin to be winning league championships someday.

  8. Lane Hosler (Previous: Unranked)- I would have liked to see how that played out if Evan never turned you causing a caution. I love Joey, but he does NOT win 4 in a row if that caution doesn't come out. We had him covered with 4 different pit strategies and everyone was within a second of him. His mistake was slowing down the pace to 'save tires'. He was going to be buried behind the 4 of us and I don't think any of us were going to make it easy on him getting back by with his quest to win 4. But as fate would have it, things always work out in Joey's favor. Good recovery for a P7. Was glad you joined our quest in trying to dethrone Joey here at Iowa. You had the pace. He really needs to be stopped.

  9. Jeremy Morrison (Previous: Unranked)- Most controversial ranking yet, but I just wanted to showcase another polarizing league veteran that doesn't get much mention here and certainly makes some enemies with his driving style to some, but did bring home a top 10 against a pretty darn good field.

  10. Jeremy Mohr (Previous: 1)- I'm never going to drop a driver from first in the power rankings to out of the power rankings in 1 week as long as they participate. This league has a way of humbling us quickly. I think no less of your talents Jeremy. I know you were fast at times at Iowa! Sorry you had a tough week. I've had a few myself the past few seasons! Still my favorite Jeremy in the league.

Special thanks to our broadcasters at ESBN. You guys do an awesome job covering these races and the Power Rankings shoutout was much appreciated! These drivers all deserve recognition in this league.

Veterans really shined at Iowa early. (Joey (3x), Lane(1x), Evan (2x), (Nathan (1x), Josh (2x). Every driver in the top 5 here had won a league championship. In fact the top 5 in this picture accounted for every league championship won. League Racing is a different animal than open lobby racing. Iowa is a prime example. Most people don't realize they are driving it wrong when the runs are only 20 laps long in the open lobbies. If you had a bad race here, don't discourage. There is a ton to learn running league races. My first race at Iowa in this league I finished 2 laps down.
